Conversations with Sly

At 21 months, he's still not saying too much that's discernible as English.  But his speech gets funnier every day.

Tom: "Sly, are you going to be nice to the new baby?"
Sly: [nods]
Tom: "Really?!"
Sly: "uhhhh....no."

Sly: "What's that?!" [said in a very excited squeal at least 10,000 times a day]
Me: "It's an iPod"
Sly: "iBop! iBop!"

Sesame Street: "This episode was brought to you by the letter X..."
Sly: "A!!"
Sesame Street: "...and the number 10"
Sly: "Nine!!"
(Well, at least he knew which was a letter and which a number?)

Anytime we finish praying the Rosary (and once, embarrassingly, right as Mass ended)
Sly: [very loudly] "YAYYYY!!!"

  1. I love that last one, so funny! It reminds me of my late Grandma, who used to encourage us as kids whenever we prayed with her to end the prayer saying AMEN! as loud as we could. Then our parents would try to undo that teaching when we were in places like church, haha.

  2. LOL! I have a 20-month-old so I can TOTALLY relate to these types of conversations. :-D

  3. In a way, isn't "Yay" an excited version of "amen"? Blessings :-)

  4. Once in church, my daughter was a little off and said "Amen!" loud enough for everyone to hear *L*

  5. I like the last one. When we say grace before dinner, my youngest would always clap at the end. When he stopped doing it, (as I figure he was "too old" for that), we all continued. He looks at us all like we're nuts now. I, for one, just don't want that memory to go away. :(
